Everyday

Everyday , A new battle
Everday, A new challenge
Everday, A new fear
Everday, A new way to smile
Everday, A new disappointment
Everday, A new hope
Everday, A new way to sweat
Everday. A mindset
Everday, A spirit run
Everday, A milestone
Everday, A prayer
Everday has to be a short story with a happy ending.
How I live my minutes is going to be how I live my days.
And how I live my days is going to be how I live my Life.
Everday

Unwritten

Theres this person inside me.
Who cries a little.
Who laughs without care.
Who's broken hearted trying to be big hearted at the same time.
Who embarrasses herself everyday with her foolish jokes and dramatic connotations and filmi dialogues.
Who loves pasta ad pani puri with equal abandon.
Who thinks paint makes wonderful makeup and flowers are meant to be tucked behind ears.
Who loves thinks books makes the best gifts
This sometimes crazy person
Who thinks that she is blessed beyond measure.
Who falls in love several times each day.
who doesnt find time to comb her hair but finds time to blog
Who is moody and mushy. Sometimes cynical Sometimes whimsical. Mostly nuts.
Who loves her friends and misses those who are away so much that it hurts.
Who grins with abandon when her pink ipod plays a song of choice.
Who thinks better in flip flops and jeans.
Who sometimes wins but mostly struggles.
Who makes promises and then weeps while breaking them.
Whos absurdly sentimental, recklessly happy and thankfully strange.
Who loves rain and fall and summers - well damn it- the whole year infact !
Who loves to make plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D - you get the picture !
Who loves to screech rubber on treadmills.
Who is boisterous but craves quiet.
Who is sometimes at odds with the world but mostly with it.
Who is serious but then again :)
Who is dying to get out but sometimes shuts up.
Everyday - I am learning to understand this person.
Thank God I have enough !

Free Willy

Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere
Yet sometimes in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself
H2

I went to bed at 4 am this morning - my mind resplendent as usual with questions on current whereabouts, decisions and what nots. I just woke up wondering how I was going to get past today. Not beat it, or magically do something historic ..just get past the brutal hourfest. Thats the general plan for the day.
Then the universe has a message.

I was casually reading some news and I cam across this "An 18-foot minke whale ran aground on a sandbar in the Amazon jungle some 1,000 miles from the ocean, Brazilian media reported Friday. Sea creatures rarely venture so far into fresh water.Scientists said the whale was 18 feet long and weighed about 12 tons, and were working to dislodge the mammal and return it to the ocean."

I bet he is trying to get past the day too.
What a 18 feet long whale would be doing swimming in the deep Amazon- god alone knows. What must he have thought before taking on that journey ? Did he just stray and get lost ?
Or was he trying to find something ? someone?
1000 miles. I dont know how long it takes to swim that length - but I am guessing that it musnt have been easy. And especially so with all the humans saying that it wasnt his place to be.

Journeys.
Some of them bring us home and some of them take us very very far away from the familiar. Measurably so. Some journeys we go one without moving an inch. Only in our minds.
Yet - our hearts thump with the excitement of the unknown, our mind pants with the wear of the wanderer and our gaze scans the hopeful horizon of what is and what is yet to be.
Sometimes we get lost yet at other times we lose ourselves to the journey.

Yet the truth remains that much of what we hold true rarely comes to us instantly where we are. We have to let go and travel. Maybe a 1000 miles or maybe even further, get stranded in the middle of a jungle and lie out there in the sun gasping while the rest of the world phoofoos our quest by saying that we werent meant to be on that journey at all.
And while we are out there - getting our backs fried in the harsh sun - we hope that somehow there will be meaning and there will be closure and like Alice said to the cat .. we get somewhere.

Willy - I hope you find your way.

Yellow Submarine

Sometimes it doesnt matter.
It doesnt matter how many friends you call, or how many glasses or wine you drink, or how many feel good movies you watch, how many friday nights you spend out toasting the world silly.
When its you versus a phone waiting to ring. Guess who wins. Its a no brainer.
You: zero Phone: Game, Set, Match.
The funny thing about love is that I keep telling myself that the time is not right.
This weekend - I realised that the time is never going to right.
So what do you do if you belong to a school of thought that says that love has to happen - you cant make it happen.
Its the simple things in life that we all crave for. Like having someone waiting when you come home late at night. The saga of fighting over a remote. Someone who makes saying goodbyes hard, who makes airports utterly painful or hopelessly happy depending on which way you are going. Who knows exactly how hot you like your tea. Who reads the sports section while you read the rest of the newspaper Who makes music more than music and loves dogs as much as you do.

The truth is that love never waits. It always moves on. So you've got to decide in the moment whether you want to do something about it. Holding on is easy. Letting go is also easy.
Figuring out what to do - is the hardest most exhausting thing of all.

I once read that Love is hard.
Like is much more important.
I think I'm going to have to learn to live with like.

Into every life ...

Into every life a little rain must fall.
The beauty of days that are as long as today.
Sleepy case studies, blurry powerpoints, fluroscent markers and earnest calculations.
One too many cups of coffee, a friendly pat on the shoulder, a comforting smile.
Lonely steps that make their way back alone and longing memories that comfort me to bed
Wishful thinking and hopeful self promises that warm my heart.
Phones that long to ring and inboxes that wait for an email.
Blogposts waiting to happen and love stories that die a million deaths with every heartbeat.
Screeching rubber on grey treadmills and learning to bend rather than break.
Sweet smelling yellow flowers that intoxicate the night.
Moonlight that makes me smile and embraces my world perfectly.
Thank God I have enough.

Bas Ek Pal

I turn 29 next week.

Its a pattern -that about this time of the year, I'll sit down and think about my life and the ups and the downs and the joys and the sorrows and try and do this weird summary bit that ofcourse never makes sense. But yet again like most things the process is more rewarding than the outcome itself.
So here are my 50 cents about growing a year older.
Well - there are years .,..and then there are some years. Honestly - if we think about it, the worst year is year number two. Because when you are one - and then suddenly you are two - its like you've aged twice as much in a single year !
So by that logic - if things hadnt progessively gotten better between then and now - I would be short on breath blowing candles next week ! Thank god for small mercies.
For me the new year is now. Not in Jaunary or April- but in November.
And this year in Hyderabad - I hope it rains, GNR style.
The funny thing about birthdays is that I'm not sure whether we celebrate them because one year got over or because a new one is approaching. There must be something to it.
Who wrote the song "Happy Birthday" ..if you think about it - can you calculate how many people might be singing it in how many different languages - just this very second.
Mr Friedman - do we have another flattener ?!
I;m glad that we dont grow wiser as we grow older.
We're all bottles of wine - aging. With all this drama inside us - about lineage and vintage and flavor and what not (some of us as we grow up - get full bodied too lol) - just waiting for that perfect moment to open up and celebrate.
But the trutth is - that its here !
I once read that today is the tomorrow that we all worried about yesterday !
And its now !
And it rocks !
So what are we waiting for ?!
