I wished I'd be the flower of may
Swaying through the sun sprinkled day
But then came the roar of distant thunder
and the looming raindrops made me wonder
So I wished I was a giant oak
Tall, mighty and ready for the fight
Lightening struck without a glance
and questioned the worth of my might
Then I wanted to become a thorn
Sharp and Ready to take on the crowd
But I still wanted to kiss the butterflies
..so thorns I had to do without
So I wished for strength and quiet poise
An inner peace midst all the noise
A wish to survive another year
Through all the seasons, frost and cheer
I wished to be a blade of grass
that the world ignored at mere glance
But the weathers of life would cause me no ache
I would learn to bend so I may not break
