Heroes

Last night as I lay in bed, I could not help but wonder why superhero's always played double roles.
Superman plays Clark Kent by the day.
Spiderman is Peter Parker.
Batman is Bruce Wayne.
And they all wear glasses as part of their disguises.
Why ?

The more I thought about this - the more confused I got.

The earliest superhero I know .. He-Man ..from He-man and the Masters of the Universe is also

Adam, prince of Eternia by the day.

Is this just one heck of a happy coincidence ? or is there more to this that meets my

non supersonic-laser vision eyes.

And the fun part is that the human characters they chose to play are weak, afraid and a total contrast to their super heroic self. Are they just trying to protect their identities or Is this how they see mankind? ....meek,..helpless ..Waiting ..for a super hero ?

Most of us are not waiting to be rescued. We can do the rescuing ourseleves.

What we are waiting for is someone Human ..who can understand our scars and pain afterwards..and also accept our flaws and shortcomings and our struggle to overcome them.

Do we really need a superhero to hug at the end of the day ?
Or will a friendly voice at the end of the phone do the trick ?
