I had breakfast with a very very old dear friend of mine today .
Who gifted me a book with writing paper that had something really beautiful written on it ,that had to travel a distance far and long to make its way to me .
All Phenomena and ideas are unreal, like a dream , like magic and like an image
All phenomena and ideas are impermanent , Like a water bubble , like dew and lightening .
Thus one should observe and realize all things in this world

..and that led me to thinking about friends . I think a friendship ..or any other relationship should be like a good book . Once you pick it up , so hard to put away and like a good story , its a lesson or a gift for life . ..that even when you dont have it close to you for perusal , still stays with you in thought , perspective and presence.
When does a new friend become an old friend . For me ..theres always that one moment
..when I'm sitting across a room full of people with a new friend ..and something happens ..and without any words being said ..our thoughts collide in space ..somewhere suspended in that moment and there is this clear and present understanding ..and thats when I know ..that I've just lost a new friend :)
Friends are like a good wine . They grow better with time and you need patience and a few years to appreciate the flavor they bring to your life .
