Once I was an Arrow

I wrote this poem on a very cold October Day, Fall 2001.
Those were changing times just like these and I was hoping to
capture the fluid ,transient nature of those interesting times .
This week I heard a song that I liked every much .
If I could translate this poem into music ..then it would be this song .
All happy thoughts I've ever had in 26 years composed into notes.
Running barefoot in a field of sunflowers ..smelling of a new box of bright crayons ..watching painnt dry on a freshly painted canvas ..clouds in a turquoise sky ...smoke billowing from a train winding its way through the fog towards you in the mountains somehwere ..seeing the moon rise in the sky while the sun still flames in orange ..first rain ..watching autumn leaves flutter and hit the windshield while I'm driving ..just like memories colliding with me on a cold winter morning ..warming corners of my heart .

Once I was an Arrow

Once I was an Arrow
A Hunter Shot into the Air
Swiftly I flew into the blue
And met some lightening up there

Then I was a cloud of hope
And wandered timelessly with no aim
but a silent cry from a distant land
beckoned ..and I became a drop of rain

Soon I was a tear of joy
And touched somebody's heart
Only to become a sigh of sorrow
As something tore me apart

So I fell into the brown earth
and slept for an eternity
Woke up to Sunshine and Sky
I woke up to be a tree.

..and so I stood there telling the wind
of Promise and a Love yet to be ..
Until a Hunter found me one morning
..and made an Arrow out of me
