Sea Breeze

Its hard not to be optimistic when the salty sea breeze plays with my hair and reminds me that I am being watched by the heavy grey clouds that clutter an otherwise peaceful sky these waning weeks in May.
Richard Bach once said that we are always free to change our minds and choose a different future or a different past. And the time to do that is now. The place to do it is here.
The truth is that theres nothing like this city to make a fresh start.
The city that never sleeps. Maximum city. Bombay. Mumbai. A rose by any other name.
The purple haze of smog rising across the horizon does nothing to the otherwise spectacular orange sunset over a turbulent Arabian. And the sun will rise again. Like it did not too long ago.
Yesterday the sun rose with the promise of many tomorrows.
One day.
That the rest of my life starts with.
Yes - there will be long hours spent contemplating the meaning of life while watching lights turn colors in bumper to bumper traffic.
There will also be queues and logistics of flipping over to the next page in the book of my life.
There will be tears, drama, the unrelenting saga of resisting change and behaving like a caterpillar in pain growing out of a comfortable cocoon.
Hopefully there will be new friends and new love and new meaning.
Standing at the brink of the rest of my years - I feel an excitement that one can only feel at the start of a long journey to an unknown destination.
And the nervous excitement that runs through my fraught nerves is a gift.
Human beings love to mark the passage of time on a yearly basis.
But my reality is that if I had to wait 365 days to make a new beginning - it would be a darn long year.
So I chose to do it with tomorrow.
I'm 29 years old. And my city is Mumbai.
