The Jacket

Decades ago - O'Henry wrote a short story titled "The Gift of Maggi".
Its a truly wonderful story - current holiday season nothwithstanding.
The main protagonists - Jim and Della are very much in love.Jim lovs his watch but wants a chain for it.Della has beautiful long hair but years for silver combs to fasten them with.One evening - Jim sells his watch and presents her the combs only to find that Della has chopped off and sold her hair to buy him a chain for his watch.
(Obviously Della didnt shop at Macys where you can return everything ..else the story wouldnt have been so charming . Digressing a bit ..but this is why romance ho hi nahi sakta aaj kal ke zamane mein ..who wants to send a love letter with a white dove when blackberry is close by ..anyways )
Then few years ago Rituparma Gosh took this story and made a super sad dukhi movie out of it called "The Raincoat" .Filled with twists and turns and a desi Jim and Della ..he added his own touch to this story.
Last night I created my own holiday story titled "The Jacket"

Few weeks ago - I went to Target.I feel in love with a 11 $ Powder Pink Fleece Jacket.I have worn it ever since . everyday ..every minute ..just kidding.
So addicted I am to this jacket - that I want to wash it seperately - all the time ..so its always there for me to wear.Havent liked anything this much since my seven up fido dido shirt - which I wore for a groud breaking 3 weeks .Kidding yet again ..but anyways.

This jacket has 3 claims to fame
1. Its reversible - pink on one side and brown on the other
2. It has side pockets - with zippers
3. It cost 11 $ ..which in the era of capitalism ..is unthinkable . (I should have bough 10 of them and sold them on ebay !!!)

Last night - I left my cell phone in my jacket's famed pockets.
Last night - I washed my jacket.
Last night - I cried till I had to laugh ...and laughed till I had to cry.

Who on earth washes a cell phone ?!! ..who one earth other than yours truly .

This morning - I was in the elevator to work ..and someone looked at me and said .."Nice Jacket"
I burst out laughing and said ..it better be ..its a 200$ jacket dammit !

Lol!
